We're grassroots Heathrow residents proving that communities less dependent on oil can be more resilient, stronger and happier. We take direct action on climate change and shrinking supplies of cheap energy by transitioning to a post-oil, community-led future for the Heathrow villages.

Hayes Carnival 2012

Posted: July 9th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Events | Tags: , , | No Comments »

Roll up! Roll up! Transition Heathrow hits the Hayes Carnival for our fourth successive year of fun, frolics and frivolity! All, of course, brought to you with minimal environmental impact and maximum sparkle.

Grab some tea and cake from the rocket stove cafe, mix up a delicious smoothie on our bike-powered smoothie-maker, find some fab free clothes in the Free Shop, learn about growing your own food and take some plants away to get yourself started, or join in with some arts and crafts making beautiful things to take home!

And once you’re tired of all that, we’ll be chilling out in the sun (fingers crossed!) by our big top tent, with live bands through the afternoon including local acts ‘Colour Me Purple’ and ‘The Tuts’  as well as our classic mix of folksy goodness – all powered by renewable energy.

We will also be defending our title in the procession, with a hot new upgrade on our bicycle float. We’d really love it if you could join us for the parade – bring your bike and we’ll help you decorate it, so you can join our bike block! We’re going for a Mayan look this year (the theme is 2012, so we’ve chosen the apocalyptic interpretation) – get yourself dressed up or we’ll dress you on arrival. Meet at 12.30 at Hayes End Rec for a 1pm departure – we’ll be with the bicycle sound system! If you can’t make the procession, we’d love to see you through the afternoon in Barra Hall Park!
